Just a quick blog post to recognize another OpenDNS milestone. On Tuesday and Wednesday we served over 7 billion queries in a single 24-hour period. That’s the first time we’ve hit 7 billion requests, and we’re happy to say we handled it with ease.

As always, you can see our most recent stats and system messages over on the OpenDNS System Status website.

And here I am trying to figure out how to stop my Rent-a-server choking on a coupla thousand…………
Congratulations! The numbers are extraordinary.
I’m still trying to figure out how http://plentyoffish.com
became the no:1 Dating Site running off a single tin box in a bedroom - but he only has millions a day…..
Cheers!

It should come as no surprise that OpenDNS continues to experience unheard of, unprecedented, phenomenal growth.
You saw a need — in fact an entire body of needs — and you satisfied it in extraordinarily fit-and-finish with a body of work that in each case sticks to “The KISS Principle” mentioned above.
“Form follows function” seems to me to be at the heart of all of your work. OpenDNS is unique in that key way, and that is the most important reason that you continue to thrive.
I congratulate OpenDNS on your most recent milestone [7-billion DNS requests in a single day], and look forward to doing this again as the mile-markers retreat into the distance.

You should getting a higher volume as the patch to the DNS was hacked last Friday. There will be more people coming to your site to use it because of this problem. So you should prepared to get very fast increase as NY Times wrote a story on breaking the patch to DNS. I hope you have the equipment in place to handle this load coming. Since you are handling less than 1 percent of DNS workload a 1 percent level could really add volume and please be prepared.

Congrats
I’ve just started using this service today (after not being sure what my Virgin DNS was).
I searched on google for an answer and I believe within the first link to a forum was a reply stating to use opendns, which upon reading what you do I was very interested and eager to try it out. I have added your DNS servers to my router and I am loving the features so far! The customisation is great and I will make sure my friends check you out!

Less than one month later OpenDNS is tantalizingly close to 8 billion requests. Growth is phenomenal.
I listened to the interview Kaminsky gave to CBS. He suggested OpenDNS as a way for consumers to mitigate risk and went onto say that the reason he recommends OpenDNS is because they have the capacity to deal with the increase in traffic his advice would bring.

Many congrats on the continued success, and for keeping up the great work with OpenDNS! I’ve recommended and changed peoples DNS for them after explaining how it can benefit them - and they’ve never looked back.
Again, congrats and thanks!

Why don’t you have a timezone adjustment? I should be able to offset my timezone in my settings.
