TGIF.
Here at 199 Fremont Street we’re all exhaling a deep, collective sigh of relief. We’ve spent the last several weeks revamping every single page of our site to make it easier to use, and its fitting that we finished it on a Friday. Lots of you let us know how much you liked the original, and thank you very much for that. But I think you’re really gonna love the new one.
If you want to poke around, I recommend:
- The “How it Works” section. If you’ve ever wondered how we give you such a world-class DNS service, “How it Works” is your place.
- The “Features” section. Our service does a lot. The index page here gives you a snapshot of everything.
- The “Customers” section. Our customers cross both industries and continents and we’ve built this section so you can see just how diverse the group is. The main page has a few representative customers from each category, but be sure to click “view all.”
As always, we welcome your feedback and will read and consider anything you send our way.
What do you think of the new site?

It looks awesome. Great work everyone. Really fantastic!

It looks good. But the new top menu is not intuitive. I think underlining each link would make it more apparent that it is in fact a menu; and not just plain old text.
Other than the menu; great work!

It looks great. And I’m happy to see the “How it Works” section. I’m always interested in the nitty gritty.

What happened to the “test” button that used to be easy to find? I have no clue if I’m using your DNS servers on my newly repaired laptop. Put it back on the home page please.

You don’t seem to list the total number of requests resolved anymore, just the daily totals for the last month… It’d be nice to bring back that information.

Patrick,
Usability testing we did showed that most people had no real understanding of what 300+ billion DNS requests actually meant, whereas the number of requests per second was a more manageable number. Of course, there are tech folks like you who understood and liked seeing it.
I mildly disagreed and liked seeing the top line number so I’m happy to hear someone else wants it back too!
We can bring that back onto http://system.opendns.com/
I’ll make a ticket for that. Check back sometime next week, since we have a few other things to crank out before happy hour starts this week.

@Stella - http://welcome.opendns.com/ still serves as a test anytime. Next week we’ll make the Get Started buttons “smart” again.

A site that’s easy on the eyes with no bloat is always a winner.

I like the new design, however I rather miss the way the DNS server IPs were displayed in the sidebar for quick reference (such as when I already know how to modify my DNS servers). I can’t find any way to get to them now without going to getting started and selecting my OS.

Keep up the good work. It looks good and functions perfectly. A real finished product.
I keep recommending OpenDNS and everyone that checks it out is amazed.
Waiting to hear that OpenDNS has reached 400 Billion +.

Search results aren’t presented very well (I’m using firefox). For example: http://blog.opendns.com/?s=downtime
Otherwise think it’s a great improvement!

The overhaul is pretty useless if I have to dig around now to find the IP addresses. That is what attracted me to OpenDNS, it was easy.
