I live in Mexico and rely on the blazing fast Telmex service, Infinitum, which promises 1mb/s down. This week tests show figures such as:
"Download Speed is:: 11 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 2)
Test Time:: 2007/06/09 - 4:29pm
Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 93.09 sec"
But I added OpenDNS and apparent speed of many searches and redirects is faster. I had not realized until tedder (above) mentioned it that a more secure connection is provided. Here in Latin America the more security the merrier. Thanks.

You caught my attention. I am motorcycling from the USA down through Latin America. Currently I'm in Colombia.

I started using OpenDNS in Mexico, because the DNS servers at some cafes aren't that great, and I certainly don't trust them.

It makes life a LOT easier- I'm using my own laptop, so I just have to have a connection and I can have a reasonably secure connection.

So, thanks!
